The department should be contacted regarding all serious incidents as soon as possible by phone then by email to the contacts below. Other occurrences or incidents can be advised by phone or email to either the contacts below or relevant inspector.

Petroleum - environmental incident notification and reporting

The Duty Inspector is available 24 hours a day to take calls relating to oil spills and other reportable environmental incidents from petroleum and geothermal activities operating under State legislation.

Written reportable incident reports are required to be submitted as soon as practicable, and in any case within 3 days after the first occurrence of a reportable incident. Please submit these reports to petroleum.environment@dmirs.wa.gov.au.
