The Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DEMIRS) is committed to strengthening the conduct and integrity of our duties for the Western Australian community, industry and resources sector.

To achieve this, we comply with the Western Australia Public Sector – Code of Ethics.

The Code of Ethics are expressed in three key principles:

  • personal integrity - that we act with care and diligence and make decisions that are honest, fair, impartial and timely, and consider all relevant information;
  • relationships with others - that we treat people with respect, courtesy and sensitivity and recognise their interests, rights, safety and welfare; and
  • accountability - that we use the resources of the state in a responsible and accountable manner that ensures the efficient, effective and appropriate use of human, natural, financial and physical resources, property and information.

The DEMIRS Code of Conduct reinforces the Code of Ethics and our values by providing an overarching framework on the ethical behaviour expected from employees.  The Code will enable employees to understand their duty to act in accordance with the standards the community expects.

Fraud and Corruption Control Plan

DEMIRS is committed to the highest possible standards of openness, probity and accountability in all its affairs.

DEMIRS has zero tolerance to fraud and corruption. Suspected fraud or corruption will be reported, investigated and resolved in accordance with internal policies and procedures and the Corruption and Crime Commission Act 2003. All legal obligations to the principles of procedural fairness will be met.

DEMIRS has a Fraud and corruption control plan which details DEMIRS's approach to fraud and corruption prevention, detection and response, including details of pre-employment screening, and customer and supplier screening requirements.
