The Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety is pleased to present its Annual Report for 2018-19.
We have produced this report as an interactive microsite. The annual report is also available as a PDF document. Additionally, to engage with readers, we have designed an innovative annual report snapshot, which summarises the key information from our report in an easily extractable, stand-alone document.
Here we report on progress towards delivering the department’s purpose, presented in the context of our three approaches as: regulator, service provider and policy maker; and aligned to the priorities of government.
The report, prepared in accordance with the requirements of the Financial Management Act 2006, offers transparency, accountability, and compliance with legislative and government policy requirements. It provides details on our operating structure, a description of our services, and performance highlights of the department, presenting audited financial statements and performance indicators for the year ended 30 June 2019.
Further this report is indicative of our work in coming together and embarking on a process to harmonise our functions uniting the two former departments (Mines and Petroleum; and Commerce).
The department’s Director General David Smith said "I encourage all our stakeholders to take a few moments to explore the microsite and report, to learn more about the wide variety of work we do across the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety."
This publication is also available on request in alternative, accessible formats.
Thank you for taking the time to read about our contributions to the State during 2018-19.
An archive of all previous annual reports for both the former departments is provided:
