The department’s Aboriginal Procurement Strategy supports whole-of-WA-Government targets for awarding contracts to registered Aboriginal businesses under the Aboriginal Procurement Policy (APP).

This strategy represents the department’s commitment and approach to delivering APP outcomes by actively encouraging us to use Aboriginal businesses as well as contributing to achieving procurement related deliverables under the DEMIRS Reconciliation Action Plan.

The Strategy focuses on:

1. Leadership - Proactively leading and supporting APP initiatives to increase the volume and value of Indigenous contracts within DEMIRS
2. Behaviours - Increasing the awareness of the APP and building capabilities to better enable Indigenous business engagement
3. Communication - Sharing APP outcomes, good news stories and information on supporting Indigenous businesses to reinforce the importance of DEMIRS delivering APP outcomes
4. Procurement Goals - Influencing procurement processes to support the growth of Indigenous businesses and economic sustainability
